From 1 October 2026, Microsoft will begin phasing out Exchange Web Services (EWS) for Exchange Online – with the final shutdown on 1 April 2027. Anyone archiving emails from Microsoft 365 will need to switch to the Microsoft Graph API. Otherwise, archiving runs will fail and gaps will appear in the archive.

For our customers, this means: you don't need to do anything. We have reviewed which archiving solutions are in use and will migrate the affected systems to Graph well before the deadline – without interruption and without any gap in the ten-year retention obligation. Where action is required on your side, we will contact you proactively.
